Our longtime patrons know Madras Woodlands as the first authentic vegetarian
South Indian restaurant established near the UN in the 1970s. Among our many
preparations, we introduced our clientele to exotic delicacies such as iddly (a
steamed lentil patty), vadai (a spiced lentil doughnut), and dosai (a thin
lentil crepe).
At Madras Woodlands, we take great pride in preparing our dishes in a distinct
South Indian "Udupi" culinary style that incorporates ingredients such as
spices, curry powders, herbs, fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as coconuts
and nuts. As in our past endeavours, every dish is prepared in an ancient
tradition that dates back to an era where each item was freshly prepared
without the invasion of today's standards of instant mixes and microwaveable
creations
Since our introduction of these delicacies in the 1970s, many have tried to
emulate us. However, here, at Madras Woodlands, we strive to continue to serve
you only the best and most original South Indian culinary delights. We welcome
you to explore these creations...enjoy!
